OFFICIAL – AC Milan announce defender sale

AC Milan technical director Leonardo is very busy on the market closing a big number of deals before the end of the summer transfer window.

AC Milan and Empoli have just announced the transfer of Luca Antonelli. The 31 year old left back was no longer part of coach Gattuso’s plans and was considered as third choice behind Ricardo Rodriguez and Ivan Strinic.

The Italian defender leaves the Rossoneri after 4 seasons at San Siro. His contracts with the Red and Blacks was about to expire in one year and new management had asked him to find a new squad.

AC Milan signed Antonelli in 2015 for 4,5 million euros from Genoa. He made 69 appearances with the Rossoneri and now join Empoli for a fee of around 1 million euros. In addition the club saves around 3 million on his salary.
