AC Milan sign highly-rated attacking midfielder Mateusz Skoczylas
AC Milan have secured the highly rated Polish attacking midfielder Mateusz Skoczylas beating the strong competition of Sporting Lisbon.
AC Milan have been unstoppable on the transfer market this summer. The Rossoneri have signed eight players so far for the first team and plan to purchase more until the market is over. At the same time, the AC Milan management are investing a lot to make the Primavera squad much more competitive for next season.
AC Milan have signed highly rated Polish attacking midfielder Mateusz Skoczylas on a permanent transfer from Zaglebie Lubin. The 17-young-old starlet shined at the Under 17 European Championship, in which Poland reached the semifinal and lost against Germany who eventually won the tournament. The Rossoneri observers monitored him with great attention and it was decided to take him to Italy.
AC Milan beat the strong competition of Sporting Lisbon for Mateusz Skoczylas. After having seen an initial offer of 250,000 euros rejected at the beginning of July, the Italian improved their bid in order to seal an agreement. Skoczylas had already been to Milan to undergo medical tests but an improved offer also from Sporting, who have a proven track record of developing young players, made him reflect but at the end the player and his family kept their word and preferred to wear the Red and Black jersey.
At the end, AC Milan payed just over 1 million euros to Zaglebie Lubin for the signing of the 17-year-old talent. This figure also includes bonuses linked to specific conditions that must be verified. Furthermore, the Polish club will also have a percentage on the future sale of Skoczylas in case he leaves Milan.
The signing of Mateusz Skoczylas bears the seal of AC Milan head scout Geoffrey Moncada. Moncada had followed the Polish 17-year-old for a long time and insisted on his purchase despite the elevated price tag due to Sporting Lisbon’s strong interest. Thus AC Milan have secured one of the brightest European talents to play for Ignazio Abate’s squad.
