€30m Arsenal defender offered to AC Milan

AC Milan are still in search of a new centre back and Arsenal defender William Saliba has been offered by his agent.

We’re entering the final hours of the January transfer window. AC Milan continue their work to purchase a new central defender to play alongside Tomori, Romagnoli and Kalulu. Maldini and Massara made a concrete attempt for Schalke 04’s Malick Thiaw but the offer of 6.5 million was rejected by the Germans. Schalke are asking for 10 million euros to let Thiaw join AC Milan.

A new name is now on AC Milan’s radar. Well-known agent and former Rossoneri striker Oscar Damiani has offered William Saliba to AC Milan. The 20-year-old French centre back is currently playing for Marseille but on loan from Arsenal.

At the moment Maldini and Massara don’t seem very convinced by Saliba. The Rossoneri are not interested in getting a player on loan for six months without having an option to sign him permanently. In the summer of 2019 Arsenal spent a high transfer fee of 30 million euros to purchase the talented teenager from Saint Etienne.

Saliba has never made his official debut with Arsenal. So far he has always had loan spell at different French clubs. Nevertheless, the Premier League side are asking for at least €25 million for the France Under-21 captain. Saliba has been an undisputed regular starter with Marseille this season making 27 appearances so far.

AC Milan are not planning to make a significant investment for a new centre back in January. Gabbia and Kalulu have done well so far and Fikayo Tomori will be returning in two weeks. The Rossoneri are fully focused on reaching an agreement with Lille for Sven Botman. The Netherlands star is Maldini’s number one pick for the job.
