Tuttosport: The most heated discussion between Mirabelli and Montella
Now that Vincenzo Montella is no longer coach of the rossoneri, interesting reports emerge about his relationship with Massimiliano Mirabelli.
Nikola Kalinic, writes this morning Tuttosport, albeit indirectly, has his responsibilities in the unexpected sacking of former coach Vincenzo Montella. That’s because he is considered as the real reason for the continuous contrast between coach Montella and the sports director Massimiliano Mirabelli.
In fact, in the summer, Montella was surprised by the arrival of Portuguese youngster Andre Silva, paid 38 million euros plus bonuses, a move that effectively excluded the possibility of reaching a super bomber. At that point, the L’Aeroplanino, lacking certainties about the young Portuguese starlet, insisted for the purchase of Nikola Kalinic, an attacker who gave him security and guarantees, at least on paper.
The Croatian 29 years old striker arrived from Fiorentina on loan with an obligation to purchase for a reported fee of about 25 million euros. Kalinic scored a brace in his first start for Milan in Serie A against Udinese as Milan won 2–1, but failed to keep up. So far, the Croatian international, has scored only 3 goals in 12 Serie A starts. Much more was expected from a player who has scored nearly 150 goals in his club career but in his defense he is often isolated up front and AC Milan’s disappointing results have not helped.
