AC Milan in advanced talks to sell striker

AC Milan are in advanced negotiations with Wolverhampton to sell young striker Rafael Leao, a report claims.

AC Milan have moved a lot on the incoming mercato and will do so again. However, there is also a need to sell and monetize. Among the players that the Rossoneri do not deem untouchable there is Rafael Leao. The Portuguese is recognized as having excellent talent and the idea of giving him another chance does not mind but the management also has to be careful with the budget. Should a good offer arrive, it will be carefully considered.

Many clubs are interested in Rafael Leao. Wolverhampton are long time admirers of the 22-year-old striker and will try to secure his services. The Wolves are very close to Jorge Mendes, the player’s agent who has placed many of his clients on the English club over the years.

Portuguese journalist Pedro Almeida reports that Wolverhampton offered AC Milan 25 million euros plus 3 million in bonuses to purchase Leao. According to Almeida, the two clubs are in advanced talks and the transfer of the former Lille talent to Wolverhampton is quite high. The Premier League side want Leao to replace Daniel Podence.

In the summer of 2019, AC Milan spent €29.5 million to buy Leao for Lille. Selling him at similar figures after two years would guarantee the Rossoneri a considerable capital gain and will ease a lot Maldini and Massara’s job on the mercato.

The Portuguese striker has had highs and lows during his two years at the San Siro. His flashes of brilliance have often been followed by periods of blackout. In the last season Leao contributed with 7 goals and 6 assists in 40 appearances.
