AC Milan vs Roma, probable lineups

Serie A restarts with AC Milan hosting Roma at San Siro on Thursday. Pioli is two doubts for the upcoming match.

Serie A returns this weekend with the Rossoneri hosting Roma at San Siro. Milan vs Roma will be the first match of the second half of the season and a direct encounter between two clubs that are fighting for a spot in Champions. At Olimpico, Stefano Pioli outclassed his colleague Jose Mourinho and aims to repeat the same feat.

Pioli will have to prepare Milan vs Roma and many upcoming matches without the services of Ismael Benncer and Franck Kessie. The two Rossoneri midfielders will be busy for one month with their respective national teams in African Cup.

Pioli has only two doubts for the upcoming match but not in defence. Fikayo Tomori and captain Alessio Romagnoli will form the central duo with Theo Hernandez on the left and Alessandro Florenzi on the right. Florenzi will be facing his former club after missing the first match.

In midfield Sandro Tonali is undisputable as usual. Timoue Bakayoko will likely be his partner against Roma. The French midfielder is in advantage over Rade Krunic despite the two not excelling in central midfield.

The good news is the return of both Andre Rebic and Rafael Leao from injuries. The Portuguese winger will play on the left with Alexis Saelemaekers on the opposite side. Brahim Diaz completes the trio in support of the lone striker. Ibrahimovic looks slightly advantaged over Olivier Giorud.

AC MILAN (4-2-3-1): Maignan, Florenzi, Tomori, Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez, Tonali, Bakayoko, Saelemaekers, Diaz, Leao, Ibrahimovic.

ROMA (3-5-2): Rui Patricio, Mancini, Smalling, Ibanez, Karsdrop, Cristante, Veretout, Pellegrini, Vina, Zaniolo, Abraham.
