Ranieri: “I would like to coach Milan but only on one condition”

Claudio Ranieri with Leicester City has written one of the most beautiful pages of football history. Winning the Premier League with a team favorite for relegation has been a historic achievement. Now he is at Nantes, in France, where he is doing an impressive work as well.

The 66 year old Roman coach was interviewed by Il Corriere dello Sport. Among the many questions he was asked if he would like to coach AC Milan, since he has already led the other big Italians (Juventus, Inter, Rome and Napoli). Ranieri replied: “Of course. Who would not like to coach Milan? They are going through a difficult moment and it shows. But first there must be the club, with a clear design and the ability to march all things. Then the coach and the players, but without a structured club is tough… “.

According to Ranieri everything starts from the club, as Hernan Crespo also said in another interview regarding AC Milan’s situation. The Rossoneri management is now at the center of criticism, both for the calciomercato conducted and for the management of certain things. Nobody expected such a negative trend for this season and it’s more than normal that everyone is under risk.

The name of Ranieri is also one of candidates for the bench of the Italian national team, still without a technical commissioner. On this eventuality the current coach of Nantes comments: “All Italians would like to coach the national team. I’m fine at Nantes, very well indeed. If a concrete request should arrive, I would go to the president and ask to be free. But I think that now the most important thing is to redo the Federcalcio (Italian Football Federation), with new energy and projects. Everything starts from there, only then comes the coach. This is today’s football, project and talent, never separated”.
