Jorge Mendes offers Premier League coach to Milan

Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes has offered Wolverhampton coach Nuno Espirito Santo to AC Milan in informal talks.

MILAN NEWS – In this period, with AC Milan’s bench vacant after the departure of Gennaro Gattuso, various media outlets have speculated on the name of his successor. Sampdoria coach Marco Gianpaolo is the favorite for the job but a deal hasn’t been closed.

In addition to Gianpaolo, several names have been linked with Milan with the latest idea coming from Portugal. According to reports by Tuttomercatoweb, Nuno Espirito Santo would like to replace Gattuso at Milan. Agent Jorge Mendes has reportedly offered Nuno Espirito Santo to AC Milan.

Espirito Santo has coached major clubs in the past such as Valencia and Porto, before taking charge of Wolverhampton in 2017. The Portuguese former goalkeeper has achieved great results in England. In his first season he guided Wolverhampton to Championship tittle and promotion to Premier League after a six-year absence.

Success continued even in Premier League with the Wolves ending the season in a sensational seventh place, just 4 points behind Manchester United, and qualified for Europa League. Great results for a young coach and his side in a very difficult league like the English one.

The proposal of Jorge Mendes is an intriguing option that could represent an alternative option for the Rossoneri. At the moment it is only an informal dialogue between the parties, given that Milan has identified Simone Inzaghi and Marco Giampaolo as first choices. Nuno Espirito Santo has demonstrated managerial and tactical growth but that may not be enough to get the Milan job.
