Revolution in midfield: 4 Sales and 3 signings

The AC Milan midfield will suffer a real revolution this summer. Four players are expected to depart and be replaced with at least four signings.

With or without Champions League, in the summer there will be a real revolution in the Rossoneri midfield, where there will be three already announced departures and another very likely sale. AC Milan have decided to not renew the expiring contracts of Montolivo, Jose Mauri and Bertolacci and the trio will become free agents on 30 June.

Also, AC Milan will not sign Tiemoue Bakayoko on a permanent deal. The French defensive midfielder will return to Chelsea at the end of the season with the Rossoneri refusing to pay 35 million euros for his services. His replacement will likely be an Italian youngster. That’s leaves the team with only three available midfielders, namely Paqueta, Kessie and Biglia, to which should also be added Bonaventura, who however is struggling with a very serious knee injury and no one knows when he will return on the pitch.

Apart from the Brazilian, who will be a pillar of Milan next season, the future of Kessie and Biglia is unclear. The Ivory coast international, protagonist in recent weeks of some behaviors that the management did not appreciate, has many admirers especially in Premier League, while the Argentine, who has already expressed his will to remain in the Rossoneri, is followed by Boca Juniors and other foreign clubs, like Marseille.

Their position will be evaluated in these weeks, but the sale of both seems difficult given that already in this situation AC Milan need to sign three midfielders. Assuming that Milan will continue to play with a three-man midfield, the coach must have at least six midfielders in the squad to face a long season that includes participation in a European competition.

Among the names that are most frequently linked with the AC Milan midfield there is certainly that of Stefano Sensi. The 23-year-old central midfielder of Sassuolo is valued at around 15-20 million euros. Pellegrini of Roma, youngster Sandro Tonali of Brescia, Diawara of Napoli, Duncan of Sassuolo and Barella of Cagliari are the other players that Milan are considering.
